(From a disk space saving point of view, it's no longer needed) Side note : once you do the 'explode', it creates a new WAV file for each channel and you no longer need that initial WAV file from the X-LIVE card. That will create a channel/track for each track that was recorded and then you can mix each track separately. What I do is move the WAV files over to a computer, import the WAVs into Reaper (what I use for a DAW), all sequential WAVs go onto one track.then you select them all and right-click choose 'Item Processing' and then 'Explode Multi-channel audio' and that will break the multichannel wav file into individual tracks. Now, if you're going to play back your multi-channel recording thru the X32 I can't help you there - because I've never done it. The other thing that some people have a hard time understanding is that it records one WAV file and it will split it up in 4gb sized chunks - there's no gap or audio signal loss between chunks, it's simply a file size limitation of FAT32 to break it up into 4gb pieces. Once you do that, simply stick it in the unit and record away! Don't format the SDcard thru the X32. On my desktop machine I use an app called EaseUS Partition Master - but any disk formatting or partitioning app can be used as long as you format the disk at FAT32. The trick is that the SD card needs to be formatted as FAT32. They say it's not supported, but it does work as long as you know that you have to format the card in a computer first. YES! The X-LIVE card can work with large SDCARDs. Here are a few things that aren't very clear if you go by the book. The user 1:1 routing options let me decide what channels I want to record and that makes my life so much easier. I only need 16 channels of recording and it's nice that the X-LIVE has the option to record 16 or 32 tracks at a time, that helps with file size for sure. When we switched to the X32 mixer I saw the X-LIVE and decided it was exactly the piece I was looking for to eliminate the load on my laptop and provide better and easier recording ability.

It worked great but it meant that I was relying on my laptop to not only play backing tracks and click - but also to record all 18 tracks at a time - it always concerned me with the ability of the laptop to keep up. I used to use the Behringer XR18 for live shows and did the 18 channel recordings for every live show and practice.

YES! Awesome live recordings are now way easier
